On Monday, the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) discussed with the governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, the humanitarian situation of civilian victims in conflict areas and the opportunities for referral to alleviate violations.
The meeting also addressed the situation of civilians who were released from war detention, amputees, and displaced persons, and proposed activating the referral of all forms of victims to official bodies that provide economic and social services, relief, and human rights.
Governor Nabil Shamsan confirmed the local authority’s response to all the advice and proposals provided by the Commission, which contributes to alleviating the impact of human rights violations as part of the local authority’s duties.
Commission member Judge Eshraq Al-Maqtari also reviewed the Commission’s observations resulting from its field visits to the situation of civilians, especially women and children in conflict areas in the districts of Maqbanah, Jabal Habshi, Sala, and Al-Mudhaffar.
Ms. Al-Maqtari pointed out the continuous demands of the families for intervention to facilitate aid delivery, especially regarding health and food, and the necessity of local authority cooperation in encouraging initiatives presented by victim associations aimed at reducing the risk of sniping and facilitating access to water and gas for them.
