Today, a team from the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) discussed with the management of the Executive Unit for the Administration of Internal Displaced Persons Camps in Aden governorate, ways to facilitate monitoring of human rights violations in the IDPs camps.
The meeting, held in the interim capital, Aden, addressed the conditions that IDPs live in the camps and the violations they were subjected to in their governorates before war conditions forced them to leave to rescue their lives and ways of coordinating between the two sides regarding activating the referral of victims who have been subjected to violations of their human rights.
The Director of the Executive Unit in Aden, Dr. Salem Saree, reviewed the conditions of the IDPs in (34) camps in the governorate, which are inhabited by (5,000) displaced families who came from various conflict areas, explaining the efforts of the Unit in providing basic services for this group, and the problems it faces in light of the scarcity of assistance provided by the government and international and local humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen.
Moreover, Dr. Dhyaa Muhairez, a member of the Commission, pointed out the need for all IDPs to enjoy their rights in terms of obtaining shelter, providing preventive and curative health services, safety, adequate relief, and other basic services, and the importance of monitoring and documenting the violations they suffered in preparation for presenting them to the judiciary in order to hold the violators accountable and compensate the victims.
