NCIAVHR Discusses Legal Protection Coordination Efforts with IDPs’ Camps Executive Unit

On Monday, the Chairman and members of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) discussed with the Head of the Executive Unit for the Management of Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camps, Mr. Najeeb Al-Saadi, efforts to coordinate legal protection for the displaced.
In the meeting, the Commission Chairman, Judge Ahmed Al-Maflahi, explained that the Commission’s field teams monitored, documented, and investigated many human rights violations that affected the IDPs, whether within the framework of their governorates or the areas where they were displaced.
For his part, the head of the IDPs Executive Unit, Mr. Al-Saadi, reviewed the conditions of the IDPs in the camps, the humanitarian repercussions of displacement, and the violations they were subjected to, pointing out that the Unit is currently focusing on providing legal protection to IDPs who were victims of individual crimes or systematic violations to ensure their human rights.
The meeting concluded by defining the mechanism for reporting to the Commission, referring cases of violations against IDPs, and facilitating the monitoring and documentation mission for the Commission’s field teams during their visit to the newly established camps.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdel Nasser Al-Naqeeb, Director of the Planning Department for Permanent Solutions, and members of the Commission, Judge Nasser Al-Awdhali, Judge Sabah Alwani, and Dr. Dhia Muhairez.
