The National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) concluded a workshop in Hadhramaut today, organized in collaboration with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The workshop brought together civil society organizations from across Yemen to discuss cooperation mechanisms with the Commission and ways to enhance these efforts.

Over the two-day workshop, 32 civil society organizations dedicated to human rights protection focused on the topic of “Mechanisms of Cooperation between the Commission and Civil Society.” Participants analyzed the role of civil society in various Yemeni governorates, its current impact on human rights, and the significant challenges faced by organizations working in this field.

In smaller group sessions, representatives from civil society discussed practical mechanisms to achieve effective collaboration between the Commission and civil society organizations. The workshop also covered frameworks for institutional cooperation, the activation of referral pathways, and strategies for post-service collaboration between the Commission and these organizations. Participants explored joint efforts in monitoring, documentation, and reporting processes aimed at strengthening human rights protections and offered final recommendations.

Earlier this week, the Commission held a regular meeting in Al-Mukalla with 39 of its field researchers from different governorates.
