Fourth Military Commander Reviews with NCIAVHR Measures to Reduce Violations

Today, the Commander of the Fourth Military Region, Major General Fadl Hassan, reviewed with the Chairperson of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations to Human Rights (NCIAVHR), Judge Ahmed Al-Maflahi, the measures and procedures taken by the region to limit any violations of international humanitarian law and human rights.

In the meeting that took place at the headquarters of the Commission in the interim capital, Aden, Major General Fadl Hassan expressed the extent of interaction shown by the military region command with the letters of the Commission and responded to its inquiries regarding a number of incidents that it is investigating, stressing the readiness of the military institution to cooperate with the Commission and avoid mistakes for maintaining security and respecting human rights.

For his part, Judge Ahmed Al-Maflahi stressed the need to take into account the rules and laws followed by the army in the process of recruitment and enrollment, and the measures taken to prevent the recruitment of children in accordance with the national legislation in force and the international agreements ratified by the Republic of Yemen.

The meeting comes as part of the Commission’s meetings with the various bodies related to its work to promote and protect human rights and limit violations, within the framework of its endeavor to ensure the commitment of those belonging to the military to the principles of human rights.
