NCIAVHR Meets with the Netherlands Ambassador to the Human Rights Council in Geneva

Geneva | September 23, 2024

The Chairman and members of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) on Monday met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Paul Bekkers.

Judge Ahmed Al-Maflahi, Chairman of the Commission, discussed recent developments in human rights in the Republic of Yemen, the Commission’s vision for enhancing human rights, and the various violations that occurred in the country during 2024, which were documented by the Commission’s field teams.

Ambassador Bekkers, along with Leeke Brand, the Second Secretary for Political Affairs and Human Rights at the Netherlands Mission in Geneva, expressed their awareness of the Commission’s twelfth report, released earlier this month. He praised the Commission’s efficiency in carrying out its fieldwork and issuing regular reports.

The ambassador also expressed his country’s appreciation for the role played by the Commission in Yemen, affirming the Netherlands’ support for the implementation of this year’s Human Rights Council resolution in favor of the Commission’s work. He also acknowledged the suggestions and observations discussed during the meeting with the President and members of the Commission.
