NCIAVHR Opens Marib Branch and Holds a Workshop on Documentation and Accountability

Today, the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) opened its new branch in Marib governorate with the participation of its field researchers.
During the inauguration, the Commission implemented a workshop, which was attended by a number of civil society organizations and representatives of the local and judicial authority in Marib.
The workshop, which was held in the Commission’s new office, discussed the documentation mechanisms of human rights violations and the Commission’s role in holding violators accountable. Moreover, a number of working papers were presented by the Commission members, jurists, and experts.
The Commission Deputy Chairperson, Judge Hussein Al-Mashdali, explained that the Commission opened its office in Marib governorate as a regional office to receive victims and reports of violations from citizens coming from all neighboring governorates. Mr. Al-Mashdali noted that the Commission, in addition to its offices in the governorates of Aden, Taiz, and Marib, receives citizens’ reports of human rights violations through its official website.
The inauguration and the workshop were attended by members of the National Committee, Judge Nasser Al-Awdhali, Judge Ishraq Al-Maqtari, Dr. Dia Muhairz, the Chief Prosecutor of Marib Governorate, Judge Aref Al-Mikhlafi, and the Director of the Marib Governor’s Office, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Bazli.
