NCIAVHR Meets with Members of the Parliament, the Shura Council, and CSOs

The Chairman and members of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) held an extensive meeting, Wednesday, with a number of members of the House of Representatives, the Shura Council, civil society, and journalists at the Yemeni Embassy in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Commission, Judge Ahmed Al-Muflehi, emphasized the intensification of the Commission’s efforts to reach as many violations as possible and investigate them in preparation for accountability and justice for the victims. Mr. Al-Muflehi also stressed the importance of cooperation from all components in Yemen, especially the House of Representatives, the Shura Council, and active civil society.
In the meeting, the key content of the eleventh periodic report and the findings reached by the Commission from field investigations and visits to various detention centers and prisons were also reviewed.
For their part, members of parliament and the Shura Council stressed the need to complete documentation and investigation of all violations so that no citizen is deprived of their right to justice. They also highlighted the importance of documenting the Yemeni memory that has been left behind by the war, including victims, destruction, and violations. They also expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by the Commission, especially the field researchers.
During the meeting, members of the Commission responded to several inquiries related to various violations and incidents, including enforced disappearances, property destruction, house bombings, and restrictions on freedoms.
