Geneva | Friday, October 11, 2024
The United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva unanimously adopted today, during its 57th session, Resolution No. (A/HRC/57/L.32) on providing technical assistance and capacity building to the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) in Yemen. The Council urged all parties involved in the conflict in Yemen to cooperate fully with the Commission and to facilitate its access to information completely and transparently.
The Council also called on the High Commissioner to provide all necessary technical and logistical support to the Commission, ensuring that this support matches the level provided to any other investigative commission. This is to enable the Commission to continue its investigations into allegations of violations and abuses committed by all parties to the conflict in Yemen, in line with international standards, and to present its comprehensive report on the alleged human rights violations across Yemen as soon as it becomes available.
The resolution noted, with appreciation, the work carried out by the Commission thus far, despite the challenges it has faced. It welcomed the progress made, such as regular field visits across Yemen, consultations with civil society organizations, and improved reporting on various types of human rights violations, abuses, and violations of international humanitarian law committed by all sides in the conflict.
