NCIAVHR Examins Conditions of Taiz Criminal Investigation Facilities

The National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) reviewed the conditions of the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation and its departments and facilities in Taiz governorate today, listened to several detainees, and learned about their legal status.
During the field visit, the Commission’s team, led by Judge Ishraq Al-Muqtari, met with the Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation, Brigadier Abdul Rahman Al-Muhya, who indicated the permanent interest in cooperating with the Commission to ensure the interests of human rights and the enforcement of national law, addressing the challenges facing security and judicial agencies in reducing violence and crime while protecting rights and freedoms.
During this time, the team assessed the available resources in the administration and the general situation of the facility, detention facilities, their annexes, and the distribution of the 37 detainees in cells according to the charge, age, and gender of the detainee.
The Commission listened to the detainees in their detention rooms and noted their concerns and demands, ensuring that their legal rights guaranteed under national laws and international conventions during the investigation were granted to achieve fair trial, equality, dignity, and safety from torture and inhumane treatment.
