NCIAVHR Meets with the Netherlands Foreign Ministry’s Human Rights Ambassador

Today, the Chairman and members of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights (NCIAVHR) in Yemen met with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs Human Rights Ambassador, Wim Geerts, along with Michael Pestke, Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa, and other ministry officials in The Hague.
During the meeting, the Commission’s Chairman, Judge Ahmed Al-Maflahi, reviewed the recent human rights situation in Yemen, highlighting key findings from the Commission’s 12th periodic report. This report covers the period from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2024 and documents 3,055 alleged human rights violations in Yemen.
The Commission members also discussed the mechanisms they have employed to reach different regions across all governorates of Yemen and ensure access to all victims of violations committed by various parties. They emphasized the international standards the Commission has adhered to throughout its mandate.
For their part, the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials expressed their interest in Yemen’s human rights situation, reaffirming the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ commitment to Yemen’s stability, the protection of human rights, and the continuation of the National Commission’s work in investigating violations.
